Long Throw Speaker at La Biennale di Venezia 2023

From 16 - 29 October 2023 Anthea Caddy’s Long Throw Speakers will be installed at Forte Marghera as part of La Biennale di Venezia 2023. Anthea Caddy and Marcin Pietruszewski’s Love Numbers installation is designed for cello, synthetic sound and parabolic loudspeakers, the piece explores cosmological forces of the Sun and Moon that form multiple opposing thermal and gravitational pulls in the Earth’s atmosphere. 'Love numbers' are parameters introduced in 1909 by English mathematician Augustus Love to identify the Earth's overall elastic response to the tides.
